Women and Diamonds

WomenandDiamondsFor decades, women have enjoyed a love affair with diamonds that men couldn’t understand no matter how hard they tried. They couldn’t understand why women threw a fit if the diamond engagement ring they were presented with wasn’t what they wanted and they certainly couldn’t understand why they refused to settle for anything less.

Perhaps it’s because they’ve always been fascinated with the process these gems go through to go from commonplace to coveted. Natural diamonds take years to happen and under extremely high pressure and temperatures at that. They need to be created under the ideal environment to become the precious stones they are known to be. This process they go through is the reason why they are virtually indestructible.

This painstaking method is also something that women relate to their own relationships. If a man proposes with a diamond engagement ring, it somehow meant that he was willing to go through all the ups and downs, highs and lows of a relationship with her for a lifetime and more. This is perhaps also the reason why engagement rings are traditionally always diamond and never anything else.

However, as much as we don’t like to dwell on the material aspect of it, diamonds are also beloved by women apparently because they are expensive. Wearing diamond jewelry gives off the impression that you are loaded and therefore, become an object of envy among your co-females. Diamonds have also held the reputation of being the ultimate status symbol as in the old days, only royalty and the elite wore them. Ancient Greeks believed them to be the tears of the gods themselves, which adds to their prestige.

This is one reason why women will never accept anything less from a man because they believe that if a man can afford a diamond and is willing to present her with a diamond, then his love knows no bounds. This is especially true if the groom to be presents them with a cushion-cut diamond ring. It is also the easiest way to please people and somehow gain their respect, such is the importance the world today places on social status. Then again, if a woman persists on being given a diamond despite knowing you cannot afford it, then maybe you should be looking for another woman pronto.

However, the most popular reason why women love diamond is the fact that they never go out of style. There’s just something about wearing diamonds that somehow magically transforms you into a princess. Even the most casual outfit of jeans and a plain white shirt suddenly becomes chic and sophisticated once you slip on diamond earrings, bracelet or necklace. You can go from daytime to nighttime simply by slipping on a diamond brooch.

Diamonds as well turn heads, no matter how big or how small and one thing that women love more than jewelry is being able to turn heads. If you have any doubts about how iconic women and diamonds have become, just check out the movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and listen as Marilyn Monroe croons about diamond’s being a girl’s BFF and even your tiniest doubts will be erased and you will finally understand why women and diamonds go together.
